Rods on Hand Once in a while I manage to sneak
in enough time to build a rod or two to keep on hand. If you're
so severely infected with "bamboo-itis" that you simply cannot wait,
this is the place for you. I try to keep this section of the site
up to
date. Any rods described below are available now. 7' 2/1 4 weight Demo rod based on a Payne taper. Very lightly flame toned, medium fast action. Clear wraps. Smallish straight cigar grip. Aluminum downslide seat over cork spacer. BAMBOO ferrules. Made for demonstration purposes 6' 2/2 2 weight This tiny rod features very light cane with scarlet wraps tipped black, a small cigar grip above a titanium slide band reel seat. It will be perfect for tiny streams filled with brookies or cutthroats. New, lawn cast only. $1695 7' 6" 2/2 4 weight In the summer of 2011 I found myself with nothing to fish myself except for a 6' 2 weight or the first rod I made. Ironically I never had the chance to fish this rod. I had the strips for this rod lying around the shop and built them up as a rod for my own use. It's made from strips leftover from two different rods and features dark flamed cane, brown translucent wraps, a redwood burl reel seat spacer and a slender cigar grip. This rod is my interpretation of the Young Pefectionist taper. Pictures available on request. New, lawn cast only. $1495 8' 2/2 6 weight A powerful, hollow built rod built for larger flies and larger waters. This rod will handle everything from large trout to small saltwater species. Payne-ish brown wraps tipped amber, cigar grip, Mildrum stripping guide. Pictures available on request. New. $1995 8' 2/2 5 weight Brackett era Winston Like-new, excellent condition.
