An 8' three piece 5 weight built for a Doctor in Shreveport, Louisiana.   I call this my Otter Creek taper.   It's namesake (Otter Creek) joins the Norfork River just at the upper end of the catch and release area.  There is a shelf along the far bank which leads to a trough.  If you can get a dead drift through that trough, you can catch a fish nearly every cast.  Making the cast and getting the drift require a powerful rod capable of making a 50' cast over and over, and throwing a big upstream mend as soon as the fly touches the water.  But the necessary 6x tippet requires light tips.  This taper was developed with that spot in mind, and it has been a hit with all who try it.
